Eamonn Doorly, master boatbuilder at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, sent us this note about a great opportunity for anyone interested the teaching value for young people of building small boats.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to the first regional gathering of the Teaching with Small Boats Alliance on Saturday November 3rd here in the boat shop at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. It promises to be an exciting inaugural event, please visit https://maritimemuseum.novascotia.ca/what-see-do/teaching-small-boats-alliance-conference to find out more about the schedule of events.

The Key Note speaker for this gathering will be Crane Stookey, founder of the Nova Scotia Sea School. We are also lucky to have Boris Worn, Scientific Director of Ocean School who will share with us his approach to youth engagement. The afternoon session will focus on using the Bevin’s Skiff as a teaching tool. We will also be providing instructional training for people interested in, or leading future boat building programs.”
