In advance of hosting the 2019 Albacore International Championship Regatta, the Shelburne Yacht Club announced they have received more than $110,000 for facility upgrades for the event.

The Govt. of Canada invested $70,000 in the project through ACOA’S Innovating Communities Fund. The Town of Shelburne contributed $40,000 and the Municipality provided $1,000 toward the project.

Sail Nova Scotia and Sail Canada have assisted the club with the regatta by supporting applications and helping secure race officers for the event.

From August 24 – 30 2019, over 100 sailors from the United Kingdom, United States and Canada are expected to participate in a week’s worth of exciting sailing and social events. Situated at the head of one of the best natural harbours in the world, the seacoast town of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, is home to the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club. Established in 1903, the club proudly occupies facilities at the edge of the Historic Waterfront District.
