Invasive Species’ Naughty & Nice List for 2015

Invasive Species

December 9, 2015

Santa has taken a particular interest in watching over the invasive species world in 2015. He’s watched the ups and downs with a close eye. He cheered on hard-working field staff who were dedicated to water soldier eradication and phragmites monitoring and control over the summer. He too endorsed the leadership of the Ontario government after the Invasive Species Act was passed. But unfortunately, Santa was also watching during the tough times – when three more invasive Grass Carp were found in Lake Ontario this summer, or when many Ontario municipalities removed the remaining ash trees from their downtown streets.

Making the Naughty list:

Emerald Ash Borer

Quagga Mussels

Lake Ontario’s Grass Carp

And on the Nice list:

Students! Register for the Asian Carp Innovative Solutions Contest

Oh, (Invasive-free) Christmas Tree!

Register for the International Conference

on Aquatic Invasive Species (April 10-14, 2016, Winnipeg)

Beech Bark Disease Workshop Experts

Loaded with information from the invasive species world, Santa is ready to make his list, and the Invasive Species Centre had a sneak peek! Read on to see Santa’s Naughty and Nice List, and be prepared, we’re certain he’ll be checking it twice!
