Caframo Hatch-Mount Fan

Recognized for innovation at the recent International Boatbuilders Exhibition, Caframo’s new under-hatch-mounted fan is a terrific addition to sail or powerboats alike. Using manually activated suction cups the new Taku 12-volt fan will mount under all makes of deck hatches that are at least 16 inches in width. The fan unit itself pivots and is also hinged so it can blow in almost any direction, either exhausting air or blowing fresh air inside. Like other Caframo products it is made from corrosion-resistant ABS plastic and draws a modest 1.5 amps at its highest speed. About $ 200.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
