Giving Back: Regatta for AQVA raises $70K for sailors with disabilities
On Saturday August 20, 2022, the 10th annual Regatta for AQVA (Association québécoise de voile adaptée ) supporting sailors with disabilities and hosted by the Royal St-Lawrence Yacht Club in Dorval QC, attracted boats from six yacht clubs and raised $70,000.

Racing: 30 sailors to represent Canada this week in Spain
More than 1,000 sailors will compete at the first major Olympic multiclass competition to take place since Tokyo 2020. Canada will be represented by 30 sailors at the World Sailing Hempel World Cup held at the 51st Princess Sofia Trophy in Mallorca, Spain, which began on Monday, April 4 and will run until this Saturday, April 9.

Georgian Bay Regatta Celebrates 36th Anniversary this Summer

2022 BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival set to go
The 49th BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival will take place between March 28 April 3, 2022. It is one of the top three Caribbean sailing events, with an average of 110 yachts per year with 60% of the competitors from overseas.

SOL Regatta: Canadian Sailors Compete in the Virtual Newport to Bermuda Race
The biannual Newport to Bermuda Race (N2B) was to be held June 27 to 24, 2020 but the 636.2 nautical mile on-the-water-event had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 to the disappointment of the prepared 200+ registered skippers.

BNI Challenge Regatta – August 24
It was a riveting scene: sailboats from various yacht clubs with courageous mobility-impaired sailors unconfined by wheelchairs—all united for the 7th annual BNI Challenge to raise money for equipping these brave sailors and running an extraordinary program called Association québecoise de voile adaptée (AQVA).

Stolze Cup
The Stolze Cup is awarded annually to the regatta’s winning match racing skipper from a LYRA member club. This year’s event was held at RCYC Aug 10-11, 2019 in Sonars. There were eight teams competing from four countries including an all-women team from RCYC.

Canada’s great showing – three PanAm medals
Sailing at the 2019 Pan American games wrapped up on August 10 in Paracas, Peru. The event saw an array of conditions that made for a challenging event for our Canadian sailors. With the final medal race of the event in the Sunfish, Canada added another medal for a total of three.

We Won the WAR. A weekend of laughter, learning and racing
After a many years hiatus the Women’s Annual Regatta (WAR) returned to the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club with full force. Over the course of three days, twelve boats crewed by forty women raced on the waters of Hamilton Harbour in a weekend full of laughter, friendly competition and camaraderie.

Great Lakes Laser Regatta
The Great Lakes Laser Regatta is now a wrap! Congratulations to the 73 participants, making this the largest Master’s Laser event in Canada this year. The event was held in the town of Thornbury west of Collingwood on South Georgian Bay, from July 12 through July 14. The races were held off shore from Thornbury harbour.

Shellbacks Report and Programming
The Shellbacks Club of Toronto started their Christmas season with their annual Moosemilk luncheon. Gathering at Mimico Cruising Club, the Shellbacks had a delicious meal complemented by moose milk (egg nog and rum) and other Christmas delicacies. The buffet and dessert table that Mimico put out was spectacular.
