The 50th Newport to Bermuda race began on Friday June 17th.
Nova Scotia skippers in the race (as reported to Sail NS by the one and only Mike Evans) include Liz Shaw, Stuart MacRae, Todd Barnard, Mike Evans, and Bill Greenwood.
Several others are crew on boats.

After hitting their podium in their first two events in this, CAN SailGP’s inaugural season, winning results have been scarce for the Canadians. But this weekend, the Canadians were the ones to watch, consistently moving up the leaderboard and challenging the hometown favourites.

US Team Zing’s increased boat speed and improved crew work were no match for the extraordinary crew work of Team Defiant and the 40 years of match race experience Terry McLaughlin has gained through racing the America’s Cup, Knickerbocker Cup, Congressional Cup, Bermuda Gold Cup and three previous Canada’s Cups.

After a two-year hiatus the 53rd edition of Antigua Sailing Week wrapped up on Sunday, brimming with success and a sprinkling of Canadian sailors. The trade winds blew all week, with the international fleet enjoying exhilarating racing in sailing paradise.

Up to this point, I feel that most electric boats have not been very exciting. The motors have been mainly small portable models for dinghies. There are some high-horsepower motors available, but they look like regular outboard motors to be used on conventional boats. Until now, there hasn’t been an electric boat that really makes a statement. Enter the ENVGO NV1.

We’d been north before on a short two-week cruise. At the time, we were unprepared for the isolation, the lack of cell phone coverage, and the spotty VHF reception. Since then we’ve repowered, installed Starlink, and retired from work. Now, with confidence in our engine and our connectivity and more time to sail, we were Superior-ready.
