North Channel Race Week is a sailing race thru the North Channel for five legs during the third week of July with bot Spinnaker and JAM divisions.

For 2017 the Week runs July 17 to 21 with five races and marina stopovers over five days. The route, through Ontario’s beautiful North Channel arm of Georgian Bay, starts at Hilton Beach then on to Thessalon, Blind River BRYC, Spragge NCYC then to Gore Bay and Little Current LYC on Manitoulin Island.

Race North Channel 2This is non-profit event is sponsored by a variety of northern sailing clubs including the Algoma Sailing Club, the Little Current Yacht Club, Blind River Sailing Club and the North Channel Yacht Club. The event encourages all size of boats over 26’ in several different divisions. As much as there is a racing component, this is also very much a sailing social scene with several event meals throughout the event. The five days are all daytime.

Just when you thought you might never see the Galley Guys again, there they were waving from the flying bridge of a Le Boat Horizon 3 gliding down the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) in the sun. Glorious!

In the past the Galley Guys have travelled far and wide to great locations to explore the good life on a boat. However, this year we stayed in our own backyard for a real treat; cruising The Trent Severn Waterway.
