Archives and Collections Society Announces History of Yachting Exhibition

The Archives and Collections Society announces its summer exhibition The History of Yachting from June 11 – August 4, 2011. This year's exhibition will be showcasing the art of famous yacht designers and illustrating how their designs evolved. Paintings by members of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists, together with numerous prints and photographs will be displayed, highlighting some of the famous and important sailing yachts that were innovative over the last one hundred years.

The exhibition will have specific focus on a different yacht designer every week. Canadian designers George Duggan, and George Cuthbertson of C&C Yachts will be showcased as well as overseas designers John Alden (United States), William Fife (Scotland), Uffa Fox (England), Nathanael Herreshoff (United States), Charles Nicholson (England) and Olin Stephens (United States). There will also be slideshows, talks and video presentations of different aspects of yachting.

The public is welcome and entry is free every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit is located in The Victory – home of the Archives and Collections Society and the Canadian Society of Marine Artists, 205 Main Street, Picton, Ontario.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
