With 120 entries, Chester Race Week ran five race courses (Bluenose, Classics, One-design, Inshore PHRF-NS and Distance PHRF-NS.) Three beautiful days of champagne racing ended on a soggy fourth day at Chester race week.

Ryan Anderson, a 16-year old laser radial sailor from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, finished fifth overall at the 2018 Europa Cup in Dziwnow, Poland (Aug 11-13), capturing a bronze medal in the U19 division. He was top Canadian at the regatta.

Two Canadian champions crowned at Charlottetown Race Week
A J70 team with the regal name of Rex has been crowned Canadian champion for the third year in a row and a new team based in Prince Edward Island has won the Farr 30 Canadian title. Both classes competed at Charlottetown Race Week July 12-14.

Alamitos Bay Yacht Club (ABYC) in Long Beach, CA was the venue for the four day 2018 Laser North American Championship July 12 to 15. 160 competitors made for huge fleets in three divisions, Laser Standard, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7.

For the third time in 12 years (with about five near-misses during 2007-2017), Michael Clements and his Too Wicked team of Adrienne Mennell, Justin Hall, and Ken Machtley won the PHRF Overall trophy and the Martin 242 Division in the 2018 Round Bowen Island Race, beating 127 other boats.
