Broad Reach Canada engages underrepresented youth with the unique learning platform of sailing to develop pre-employment skills, resiliency, teamwork and a new found confidence in themselves – absolutely free of charge to all participants.

Great Results deserve a Great Party – dine, wine and dance the night away with emce Rob Pagetto and Switchbeat.

Contribute to the continuing success of the youth participants: 12,500 individuals to date, and, in 2023 alone, 28,500 volunteer service hours created in local communities across Canada. Your reach is greater than you think!

Why participate.

As a BIPOC single mother and full time artist, I’m always looking for free or cost-effective opportunities for my child. When our school recommended this program, I jumped at the chance. I thought it would be expensive, but I was willing to

try and figure out a way to make it work. Imagine my surprise to find out it is a free program! It’s truly incredible, the work that the founders have done to create accessible and barrier-free opportunities to marginalized youth.” A parent of a participant.

“The Broad Reach Ships2Shores program has been an incredible opportunity for my child. Never having been on the water before, she was frightened and nervous to participate. I even caught her nervously looking for an escape route as we were walking up to the gate! However, as I picked her up the first day after the program, her entire demeanour had shifted. She was sun tanned and full of joy and energy. My daughter has always struggled with confidence, particularly with trying new things. I have been overjoyed to see her confidence grow with each passing day of this program.” Mother of 14-year-old participant

Pontoon boats began in the early 1950s as basically four steel drums lashed to a frame. They were not unlike the log rafts of ancient cultures and not much more sophisticated at first.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
