Décès de Delphis Duhamel

Nous apprenions récemment avec tristesse le décès de M. Delphis Duhamel, survenu le 27 mars 2021 dernier. Il est difficile d’imaginer une personne plus dévouée à la vie maritime Saint-Laurent. De 1964 à 2015, depuis leur résidence de Cap Charles, sa conjointe Monique et lui (tous deux sur la photo) ont assidûment salué tous les navires qui passaient sur le fleuve au son de leur hymne national respectif avec un pavillon de salutation maritime. Au fil du temps, les navires lui répondaient d’un coup de sifflet, une tradition chère aux équipages qui, pour un instant, retrouvaient un peu de leur chez soi.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:
