Fish for Free This Year in Ontario

Four times a year, Canadian residents can fish in Ontario for free! This means you do not need to buy a fishing license if you want to fish during these times:

  • Family Fishing Weekend (February 17–19, 2024)
  • Mother’s Day Weekend (May 11–12, 2024)
  • Father’s Day Weekend (June 15–16, 2024)
  • Family Fishing Week (June 29–July 7, 2024)

Follow fishing rules
Remember to follow proper fishing rules during these free fishing periods:

  • Follow conservation license catch limits
  • Obey size limits and sanctuaries
  • Follow the fishing regulations
  • Carry a permit or identification card issued by the provincial or federal government, showing your name and date of birth

C’en est définitivement fini pour les Régates internationales de Saint-Félicien qui ne reviendront plus sur la rivière Ashuapmushuan, un tributaire du Lac St-Jean. La dernière édition de l’événement a eu lieu en 2019. Les coûts pour tenir l’événement ont explosé, ce qui explique la décision prise par sa direction. La nouvelle a été annoncée par le journal Le Quotidien à la toute fin de janvier. « C’est en 2019 que la 14e et dernière édition des Régates internationale de Saint-Félicien a eu lieu. Pendant la pandémie, l’événement a été mis sur pause, qui a été prolongé d’une année par les organisateurs qui ont tenté de trouver des solutions pour relancer l’événement. »

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
