What Do Boaters Think of PORTS Guides

May 9, 2024

Canadian Boating is the publisher of PORTS Guides, among several boating publications.  The four PORTS Guides have always had their fans but recently some especially complimentary feedback  has been received.

“Had a great trip from Lake Huron to Ottawa via the Trent and Rideau Canals last summer. Bought the Rideau Canal Ports Book which was an excellent tool while exploring the canal.”

-Jeff Evans via Facebook

“We live in Irvington VA off the Rappahannock River on the western shore of the lower Chesapeake Bay area. Two years ago, we brought a boat back from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin via Lake Michigan, the North Channel, Georgian Bay, and the Trent-Severn Waterway. We discovered and LOVED your Ports cruising guides. They were our constant companions as we happily traversed through Canada.[…]What terrific publications your Ports guides are! I’d give a lot to have one for our trip south here in the US! Thanks for your excellent work”

-Lynn Bugg Pritchard, Associate Broker CRS, GRI CLHMS

“from my sailing days, there was not a sailor that did not have this book on their boat.”

-Suzanne McCrimmon

“Just wanted to let you know that I ordered and have received my copy of the new Rideau Canal Ports Cruising Guide. Interestingly, even though I’ve boated up the canal 3 times, your new guide has highlighted a few cool points of interest that I wasn’t previously aware of (e.g. the Watson’s Mill Museum in Manotick).

Many thanks – you’ve already got me excited about my next trip up the Rideau!

“Ports Cruising Guides are one of the best resources, I can’t say enough about them. We are cruising boaters on Georgian Bay. For the past 25 years we have it open, and decide where we go and what we do, based on PORTS. We have boated the North Channel guided by PORTS and the Trent-Severn Waterway and Lake Simcoe. We are big fans!

-Linda Waddell

On behalf of the team who writes and continuously updates the PORTS Guides, thanks so much for your much-appreciated words.

Hiding Out in Belize

Dodging holiday havoc in the tropics

Getting out of town was top-of-mind as it was only November and I was already saturated with Christmas traditions – the music, the glitter, the cookies, the sales. A week in relatively remote Belize was the siren song so we booked a 45-foot catamaran with The Moorings and packed our bags.
