Pontoon, fishing, or full-throttle family adventure – these three boats are built for memory-making

Published in Partnership with Legend Boats

Some of life’s best moments happen on the water — early morning paddles, first tube rides, fish stories that grow with time, and sunset cruises to nowhere in particular.

At Legend Boats, we know how important that time is, because we’re a family business too. Since 1986, we’ve been helping Canadian families make memories on the water by building boats that are easy to enjoy, safe to use, and flexible enough to grow with your family.

Choosing the right boat depends on how you plan to use it. Some families want calm cruising and comfort. Others are looking for a mix of fishing and watersports. And some want a bit of everything. Here are three common boat types families love — and a Legend model that shows why.

Pontoon Boat: Legend 18 Fun

Why families love pontoons:
Pontoon boats are known for their stability, comfort, and space. With a flat deck and wide floorplan, they’re easy to move around on — especially for kids and grandparents. They’re also simple to drive, dock, and load.

Why we recommend the 18 Fun:
The Legend 18 Fun is a great example of a family-friendly pontoon. It has plenty of padded seating, under-seat storage, and a Bimini top to help keep everyone shaded on sunny days. Its open layout is ideal for younger kids, and the shallow draft makes it great for beaching near the shoreline or dropping anchor for a floating picnic. It’s a smart choice for families starting their boating journey.

Family and Fishing Boat: Legend 18 XTR

Why families love aluminum deep-V boats:
These boats are built for versatility and durability. The deep-V hull handles waves well and offers a smooth, stable ride — even in rougher water. They’re also lighter than fiberglass, making them easier to trailer and launch.

Why we recommend the 18 XTR:
The Legend 18 XTR is built tough for fishing, but designed with families in mind. It features rear 50/50 extenda-deck converta-bench seats that fold into an extended casting deck, a full windshield, rod storage, and comfortable bow cushions that transform the front casting area into a relaxing lounge. With built in aft rings it’s ready for tubing, add a ski tow bar now it’s time for wakeboarding, or waterskiing. It’s the ideal “do-it-all” boat that grows with your family’s interests.

Deck Boat: Legend Vibe D19

Why families love deck boats:
Deck boats combine the speed and handling of a V-hull with the open-concept space of a pontoon. They’re designed for entertaining, swimming, and spending all day on the water — with the horsepower to get you where you’re going fast.

Why we recommend the Vibe D19:
The Legend Vibe D19 has room to stretch out, move around, and relax. With a wide beam and wraparound seating, it’s ideal for larger families or groups of friends. There’s storage for gear, snacks, and water toys — and with the power of a fiberglass hull, it’s great for zipping across the lake or pulling a tube. It’s the no-compromise boat for families who want both performance and comfort.

Every Legend Boat is backed by our WOWranty — a warranty program designed for Canadian waters. As a Canadian, multi generational family-owned company, our boats are the way we’d want them for our own families: safe, simple, and ready for whatever summer brings.

See you out on the water!

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

By Mathew Channer

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
