The Moorings Power Fleet Registered for Fishing in the BVI

Moorings Power Cat

Aug 9, 2016

The Moorings has announced that their entire fleet of power catamarans in the British Virgin Islands are now registered fishing vessels, thus allowing guests to fish during their charter.

The decision to register the yachts follows a reinforced fishing policy announced in the British Virgin Islands. The recent regulation enforcement imposed by the BVI government requires all vessels to have an official registration number in order to engage in any fishing activity without legal ramifications.

As of July 1st of 2016, all Moorings Power Catamarans, ranging in size from 39 to 51 feet, have been assigned a government-issued fishing registration number. This is in addition to the entire fleet of Moorings all-inclusive Crewed yachts, previously registered. Guests aboard any Moorings power or Crewed yacht in the British Virgin Islands are now welcome to fish during their charter vacation after obtaining a fishing license.

“Fishing is an important part of the charter experience for many of our guests and we are excited that they can conveniently enjoy this activity while we have them aboard in the BVI”, said Josie Tucci, General Manager of The Moorings.
The British Virgin Islands have become one of the most sought after travel destinations in the world, boasting excellent boating conditions, pristine beaches, and friendly locals. The fishing in the BVI is first-rate for inshore recreational game fishing, with plentiful barracuda, Kingfish, and Tarpon.
