Al Seer Marine and Abu Dhabi Maritime have unveiled the world’s first 3D printed water taxi, securing a Guinness World Records title for the Largest 3D printed boat. This boat has been made with CEAD Flexbot at Al Seer Marine, an Abu Dhabi marine services provider, using the largest robotic 3D printer worldwide (4x36m).

The boat consists of two hulls, printing time of only 5,5 days each. With a breathtaking 11.980 x 3.594 meters, it has space for 29 people plus bicycles and wheelchairs.

Crafted from 67% recycled materials, this 11,980 meter long marvel not only represents a technological feat but also signifies a giant leap towards sustainable transportation. The builder feels, this milestone is not just a record-breaking feat; it’s a call to action for the industry to adopt greener technologies.

The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
