This informative Webinar, held on Thursday, October 9th at 10:00 am, titled “Asian Carp 101”, describes the four species of invasive Asian carps that have invaded the United States waterway systems and now threaten the Great Lakes. Becky Cudmore, Senior Science Advisor and manager of the Asian Carp Program at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), will discuss the biology of these invasive fishes and the risk they pose to Canadian waters. Becky will also describe DFO’s Asian Carp Program and what they are doing to protect the Canadian Great Lakes from this threat.

Stay tuned for more information on future webinars in the series which highlight the work being done to control Asian carps in the United States, including information on the Chicago Area Waterway electrical barrier, a webinar on the scientific research in Canada for containment and control of Asian carps, eDNA testing, and strategies and monitoring taking place in Canada.
