Great news!! For all those long-long distance racers, the LO600 returns in 2020. The Lake Ontario 600 Challenge occurs every other year and 2020 will mark the FOURTH opportunity for you to circumnavigate the lake twice – giving your fly swatter a really good work out!

Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR)

Fri. May 29th into Sat. May 30th        
 
*    A 75 NM overnight race on western Lake Ontario from Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) and finishing at PCYC.
*    This race is open to single handed, double handed and fully crewed keelboat and multihull sailboats.
*    A component of Ontario Sailing’s Offshore Championship for PHRF

Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge Race (LO300/LO600)

Fri., July 10th with start on Sat. July 11th and onwards
 
*    A 300 KM, 300 NM and 600 NM race around Lake Ontario from Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) and finishing at PCYC.
*    This race is open to single handed, double handed and fully crewed keelboat and multihull sailboats.
*    A component of Ontario Sailing’s Offshore Championship for PHRF

Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS)        

LOSHRS is a series of races for single and double-handed keelboat and multihull sailboats on western Lake Ontario.

    R 1 Sun. May 31st       *    A course race between PCYC and Toronto Islands via Clarkson.

    R 2 Sat. June 13th      *    A race from Port Credit Yacht Club to either YYC or DYC depending on Lake Ontario water levels in 2020.

R 3 Sun. June 14th      *    A race back to PCYC from either YYC or DYC.

    R 4 Sat. Aug. 15th into Sun. Aug. 16th
    *    A 100 statute mile race starting at Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) and ending at PCYC.
        *    This is a qualifier for Great Lakes Singlehanded Society (GLSS)’s series of solo races on the Great Lakes.

    R 5 Sat. Sep. 19th     *    A race from Port Credit Yacht Club to either YYC or DYC depending on Lake Ontario water levels in 2020.

    R 6 Sun. Sep. 20th     *    A race back to PCYC from either YYC or DYC.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
