Offshore Sailing School founders and owners Steve and Doris Colgate, were recently presented with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s National Chairman’s Citation at the annual Fantasy Sail Celebration held at South Seas Island Resort in Florida.

Speaking about the honour, Marty Siederer Sr. director of LLS Campaign Development, said, “The National Chairman’s Citation is presented with deepest appreciation for the Colgate’s support of the Leukemia Cup Regatta fundraising events through the years, which includes more than $100,000 in donations generated from a portion of paid sailing course tuitions from the Colgate’s Offshore Sailing Schools in Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and the British Virgin Islands.”

Leukemia Cup Regatta participants from around North America who raised $10,000 or more at an event in 2013 came together for Fantasy Sail weekend with Gary Jobson, a Leukemia survivor, world-class sailor, television commentator, author and chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regatta.

Offshore Sailing School donated the use of their fleet of Colgate 26 sailboats from its schools located at the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach and South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, Fla., for use in the Leukemia Fantasy Sail Regatta held off the Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel on Dec. 7, 2013.

Offshore President and CEO Doris Colgate announced that, “Offshore Sailing School is pleased to continue its commitment to support the important efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Leukemia Cup Regatta Series in 2014, with even more special events planned as Offshore Sailing School will celebrate its 50th anniversary.”

“We are blessed with fantastic locations and the greatest sales and teaching staff in the world,” exclaimed Doris Colgate. “We couldn’t do this without our partners and especially our team who leave a lasting impression on Offshore clients.”

Headquartered in Fort Myers, Fla. with eight sailing vacation and commuter locations, the company has taught more than 130,000 adults and their families to sail or hone their sailing skills since Olympian and America’s Cup sailor, Steve Colgate, founded Offshore Sailing School in 1964.

Offshore Sailing School packages its courses with accommodations at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach, the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown St. Petersburg, Fla. and The Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Md. Offshore has been teaching sailing and cruising courses in the British Virgin Islands, partnering with The Moorings, one of the world’s largest sail and power charter companies. Commuter courses and a sailing club are also available at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, N.J., as well as Chelsea Piers at 23rd Street and Pier 25 in Tribeca in New York City.
