Boat Sinks

Dec 19, 2024

A boat sank in Halifax Harbour’s Bedford Basin last week amid high winds and heavy rain. The incident occurred in the Mill Cove area, where the pleasure craft appeared to have been moored before possibly falling victim to the storm. Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency’s fire boat responded to the sinking. There was no immediate word on injuries or environmental impacts, but the boat appeared to be unoccupied at the time.

A wind warning had been issued for the Halifax region, forecasting gusts of up to 90 km/h, and rain, heavy at times, swept through the area this morning. The storm also caused power outages for over 20,000 Nova Scotia Power customers earlier in the day.
