Two experienced boaters meet a custom bedding designer and magic happens – Sea Swag Custom Boat Bedding (formerly Anchor’s Away Custom Boat Bedding) is a new company combining years of custom boat bedding development with energetic customer service.

After several years of racing and a couple of kids, creature comforts became important for Erica who went to Shelley at Anchor’s Away Custom Boat Bedding for new mattresses and some sweet bedding for the family Bavaria 38. Linda has been a cottager, a novice sailor and cruised Georgian Bay on a 40-ft trawler … a beautiful ’72 Defever that was lacking in comfort given the 4-inch hard mattress and extremely basic bedding.

As customers meeting Anchor’s Away founder decorator Shelley Foord, it was clear her insights and experience creating berth shaped bedding, mattresses and mattress toppers were industry leading. When Shelley indicated that she wanted to bring in new owners, Linda and Erica jumped at the opportunity and immediately saw opportunities for expansion and increased distribution.

Erica brings years of supply chain management to the table including extensive e-Commerce experience, which she plans to put to good use in adding online shopping to the offering. Linda has a career of media sales and customer relations. The pair has rebranded as Sea Swag Custom Boat Bedding and plans to bring some new ideas to the company’s long list of customers. With a new larger headquarters and a range of new products soon Sea Swag Custom Boat Bedding is aiming to expand as leader in the recreational custom bedding and mattress arena. During the transition Shelley remains part of the team to ensure customers continue to get the quality bedding and mattresses that have worked so well for them.

Linda sums it up, “I love sleeping and everything that goes with it. Whether boating, RVing or cottaging, your happy place should also be your comfy place.”

By Andy Adams

There is no shortage of fun and exciting new boat designs hitting the market, but for the last few years these have been mainly outboard-powered day boats. So when I heard that Pride Marine in Orillia, Ontario, had a Nimbus 365 Coupe in the water, I jumped at the chance to get out on it.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
