Mosquito Creek Marina Hosts Their 7th Annual Boat Show

Mosquito Creek Boat Show

Mosquito Creek Marina has a great deal to celebrate this year: it’s the 50th Year Anniversary of Mosquito Creek Marina, owned and operated by the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumix (Squamish Nation), and last year they became Western Canada’s largest floating boat show! The 2012 show had 165 boats displayed along 2,500 feet of dock space, 70 display booths, plus broker hospitality tents and demonstration slips for sea trials.

The Boat Show at the Creek is very much a buyer’s show. Whether you are in the market for a new or previously owned power or sailing yacht, the latest in marine electronics or accessories, or need to update your insurance policy, there are experts on hand to answer your questions and provide assistance. The tent-covered outdoor venue is designed for the boating enthusiast who wants the opportunity to personally engage with the brokers, vendors, and suppliers who make up our show.

Boating is all about bringing friends and family together to have fun. In addition to the great buying opportunities this year’s brokers, vendors, and retailers will have for you, they also have some exciting events lined up: free boating seminars, sea trials and demonstrations, and the largest selection of sail and power boats on display at Vancouver’s largest floating boat show at Mosquito Creek Marina. The 7th annual show offers more opportunities than ever for you, your family, and your friends to relax and get out on the water. Boarding Pass: $12/one-day or $25/four-days, kids 12 and under go free.

Sailing into the Future at Antigua Sailing Week

By Mathew Channer

“Standby tack,” Canadian sailor Katy Campbell orders. The crew scrambles over the sheet lines and braces on the deck.

“Three, two, one, tack!”

I wait until the bow turns into the wind and the headsail snaps over, then crawl over the cabin top of Panacea X to the now windward side. The trim team smoothly sheets on the headsail and a competitor vessel shoots past our stern, feet away, as our Solana 45 beats eastward along Antigua’s south coast.
