Joy to all

Looking at the editor’s note from last year, I see I wrote “it can only get better”. At this point, I am not so confident in my year end prediction acumen, but as we roll into the (constrained) holiday season and on to a new year it’s time to be optimistic.

Alas, some in-person shows have fallen victim to Omicron while others are, so far, going ahead as planned. Perhaps we are best off to look ahead to the spring and the excitement of launch.
Amid all this madness, boating has been going through the roof. Dealers from Orillia to Kelowna are fielding requests from new and upgrading buyers, the used boat world is robust and everyone’s hoping for gear under the tree. More Canadians are undertaking international sailing activities and regattas here at home are showing life (Ahoy sailors! As we have said many times in the past two seasons, boats are the answer. You’re outside, away and active. That’s why I am asking Santa for more boats, more boaters and less of the stuff that is keeping us from them.

Please stay safe and focus your holiday dreaming on the waves. The entire CYOB crew is counting on the Jolly Red Elf to bring us all a boat filled 2022 that we can enjoy.
