Dr. Ira Trocki Has Purchased Silverton & Ovation Yachts

EH Yachts, manufacturers of Egg Harbor Yachts, Buddy Davis Yachts, Buddy Davis Edition, Predator and Topaz Boats announced its acquisition of Silverton & Ovation Yachts in a move that continues its strategy of acquiring companies to offer the industries most complete range of cruising and sportfishing yachts.

Silverton, an over 40-year old company located in Millville, NJ creates sport and convertible yachts in a different package than the Egg, Davis, Topaz or Predator lines, which now gives EH Yachts the ability to offer both fishing and cruising solutions for every boater.

Bob Hazard, Vice President and company spokesperson had this to say, “Silverton & Ovation garnered our attention at boat shows . The Egg Harbor Group is constantly looking to add to its offerings, and Silverton & Ovation proved to be the perfect addition at this time.” Within days from completion of the sale, equipment and tooling was moved to the Egg Harbor Group facility and production began.

This move is the latest in the buying strategy of owner Dr. Ira Trocki. Dr. Trocki purchased Egg Harbor Yachts in 1999, and since has aggressively expanded the company lines. In 2001, the Sarasota, Fl based Predator yachts was purchased, followed closely by the Buddy Davis Line of Sportfishers in 2003, Topaz Boats in 2005 and Buddy Davis Edition outboard line in 2008.

Along with the addition of the two new brands, EH Yachts has added new employees to their expanded manufacturing facility. The first EH Yachts built Silverton – a 36 footer – will be launched in the Fall of 2012. Dr. Trocki has already planned an extravaganza for September 9th to welcome all Silverton & Ovation dealers and friends. The extravaganza will include a factory tour, lunch and sea trials at his restaurant and marina followed by a reception at his home complete with live music, exotic cars, designer jewelry and flowing champagne.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
