Delta Marine: World Class Boat Builders in Sidney, BC

Delta Custom 26 ft Express Cruiser

July 26, 2016

The Custom 26 ft Express Cruiser from Delta Marine, built in Sidney BC, is a real eye catcher. On closer inspection on what first thought was a fibreglass boat, I was blown away by the fact that it was a high quality, custom-made aluminum boat. The boat led me on a path of discovery about the Custom Boat Building Industry in British Columbia.

The boat was a collaboration of Liquid Metal Marine, Gregory C Marshall Naval Architects Ltd. and Delta Marine. The vessel came to Delta Marine fabricated as an aluminum hull. Delta then made the radar mast, painted the boat, did the stainless railings, installed all the electrical components. The interior was designed and completed at Delta. There is a cuddy, head, two Shockwave seats (Shockwave is another local Sidney company) and is equipped with a microwave, fridge and sink and finished in teak. For the exterior finishing another Sidney company was chosen. Peterson Custom Woodwork, who installed synthetic teak on the decks. The boat has two 300HP Mercury engines and the capability to tow vessels if needed.

In future issues of CY Onboard e-news we will take an in depth look at the marine companies involved in the building of the Custom 26 ft Express Cruiser.

Dodging holiday havoc in the tropics

Getting out of town was top-of-mind as it was only November and I was already saturated with Christmas traditions – the music, the glitter, the cookies, the sales. A week in relatively remote Belize was the siren song so we booked a 45-foot catamaran with The Moorings and packed our bags.
