Jan 27, 2016

Cruisers Yachts, a brand of KCS International, Inc., is introducing its fifth Cantius model set to debut at the 2016 Yachts Miami Beach boat show taking place February 11-15. The all-new 54 Cantius carries the torch of a new design direction for the series and features sleek, exterior styling and an ultra-contemporary interior.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the 54 Cantius to the market in Miami,” said Dan Zenz, Vice President of Sales at KCS International, Inc. “It complements the design of the 60 while keeping the successful layout of the Cantius line. It’s one more option in the Cantius family that now ranges from 40 to 60 feet.”

As with all models in the Cantius lineup, the layout features unrestrained, free-flowing spaces designed for entertaining in chic style. Light/dark wood combinations and contrast in materials and fabrics represent the latest design aesthetic. Every fit, every finish, and every feature has been perfected from the innovative faucets to the stitching on the fabrics.

Main Deck
Boaters will find an entertainer’s paradise on the main deck. With the cockpit, galley, salon and helm station all configured on one level, the 54 provides seamless integration of living spaces, ideal for entertaining. Just steps up from the swim platform, the cockpit features u-shaped lounge seating and amenities designed for everything from serving cocktails to grilling seafood.

At the center of entertaining is the galley. Opening the stainless steel patio door and lowering the power actuated window creates an ideal gathering space, complete with stools. The integrated upper salon features a sofa, dining table and entertainment center. Together, the climate-controlled space immerses you in light from panoramic windows and a massive retractable roof.

At the helm, the captain and first mate will enjoy bench-style seating and instrumentation with advanced technology. Meanwhile, the foredeck with dual reclining sun pads creates the ultimate space for sunning and lounging.

Accommodations Deck
Below deck, spectacular staterooms await you and your guests. The lavishly appointed, full beam master stateroom is located mid ship and offers a roomy and relaxing place for the owners to unwind with plenty of amenities. It features a center-line berth, walk-in closet, entertainment console and a breakfast nook with seating for two. Large, hull side windows provide ample amounts of natural light. The roomy master head offers refined details and a walk-in shower.

More luxury abounds in the VIP stateroom which can be found at the bow with plenty of natural light, an island berth and ample storage. A walk-in shower on the starboard side can be accessed through the VIP stateroom. Meanwhile, a VIP head on the port side can be accessed through the VIP stateroom or atrium. The third stateroom is located to starboard.

The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

By Mark Stevens

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
