Western Ontario District Rendezvous

West ON

July 25, 2017

The Western Ontario District held its annual Rendezvous this year at Belle River Marina on beautiful Lake St. Clair in the heart of the Great Lakes. Since it was June 23-25, the theme was Canada 150. With over 60 participants from a total of 10 Squadrons from both CPS-ECP and USPS fun and fellowship was certainly shared by all. With a BBQ Friday evening, continental breakfast Saturday, Dock lunch, catered dinner Saturday evening and a full breakfast Sunday….no one left hungry. All foods, games and prizes were of a Canadiana theme and red and white was certainly the dress theme for the weekend. Friday evening saw everyone scrambling to know their Canadian Trivia while on Saturday afternoon participants were sent out to locate five participating businesses in Belle River that they had the GPS coordinates for, but had to find the business and get a sign off….this was a walking game and teams were mixed and couples split up….a fun way to practice your navigation skills.

Thanks to the host Squadron Windsor and their team who made sure every comfort need was met and everyone left having shared that great benefit of CPS-ECP….fellowship.

This event, as always, was certainly meeting Strategic Plan Priority #4 – Community and sub goal #4 – HAVE FUN….and we did.

Just when you thought you might never see the Galley Guys again, there they were waving from the flying bridge of a Le Boat Horizon 3 gliding down the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) in the sun. Glorious!

In the past the Galley Guys have travelled far and wide to great locations to explore the good life on a boat. However, this year we stayed in our own backyard for a real treat; cruising The Trent Severn Waterway.
