Staying Home This Winter? Take a CPS-ECP Online Course!

Take Online Courses

Dec 17, 2020

Boating is just like any other skill that requires enough experience to feel confident on the water. The more knowledge you acquire, the more enjoyable it is for you and everyone else. Here at Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS-ECP) we are passionate about boating which is why we offer fifteen of them: from the basic courses required by law to what you’d want to know to cross the ocean.

While the pandemic has affected all of us in our daily activities, CPS-ECP was able to adjust and serve boaters accordingly.

CPS-ECP has been offering most of its courses online which is convenient because it allows students take courses whenever they can and at their own pace.

The Pleasure Craft Operator course gives you basic knowledge you need to drive a boat. Whereas Boating 2- Beyond Boating Basics and Boating 3 – Introduction to Marine Navigation gives an in-depth knowledge to feel confident while driving a boat.

Navigating courses online can be difficult but CPS-ECP has made it easy for members to study virtually. One of our members Frank Tremblay says he enjoyed taking the Maritime Radio virtually and he says it was almost as if it was in person.

Here’s what he says: “The learning experience is great for 95% of the material. The way the courses were structured (Maritime Radio and Sailing) were almost perfect for online delivery. Both courses featured material that needed to be reviewed prior to the actual class and except for two small parts (scenario practice for Maritime Radio and knots for Sailing) all the material was sufficiently reviewed in the end of lesson questions to determine if more clarification was required during class presentations.”

Sharon Boone says: “I finished my Boating 4 course online… awesome online instruction and a great, experienced local mentor for the practical component. Great experience!”

Just when you thought you might never see the Galley Guys again, there they were waving from the flying bridge of a Le Boat Horizon 3 gliding down the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) in the sun. Glorious!
