Membership Renewal Update

Membership

Jan 14, 2021

The main renewal period for CPS-ECP membership will soon be starting. For those who registered and renewed their membership in the new management system in 2020, will receive a renewal notice, or when they login to the CPS-ECP Website, the Renew Membership Tab will show up in the Membership dropdown on the main front page. As you go through the renewal process, there will be a new format for renewing. If you don’t see the Renew Membership Tab, or receive a renewal notice, don’t worry, have the other CPS-ECP members in you family check.

Membership is now organized into Family Groups. The Family Group consists of one or more members residing at the same address, with a Family Head, and the Family Members. This is the new way CPS-ECP is managing membership. The Family Head manages the group. They will receive the renewal notice for all members of the family group. They will also receive all the postal mailings. But all members of the family group will still receive individual electronic mailings. So, it is important for the family head to make sure the contact information, and personal information for the other members of the family group is correct.

The Family Head will receive the renewal notice for all the members of the Family Group. They will be responsible for completing the renewal process for all the family members. Payment for membership renewal can be by Credit Card, Online Banking, or by E-transfer to payments-paiements@cps-ecp.ca. For those who have renewed their membership in 2020, but don’t have internet access, you will still receive your renewal notice by mail, and can use the above methods of payment.

The goal moving forward is to have an accurate database of all the members. To do this, all members are required to renew each year. Even those who are Life members, Lady associates and Associates are being asked to renew. Don’t worry, the renewal invoice will show that you are a Life Member, the amount owing will be $0.00. The important result will be confirming that everyone’s contact information is accurate.

On February 2nd and 4th, the National Membership Committee will be holding Teams Live Events in both English and French to demonstrate the Membership Renewal process. All members will be receiving notices for these events giving the details. If you have questions or need assistance, ask your Squadron Membership Officer, or email membership@cps-ecp.ca. National Office can also be contacted at 1-888-277-2628. Your National Membership Committee is always interested in hearing from you.

New Boats: Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 – A Sleek, Good -Looking Delight To Sail

By Katherine Stone

There is nothing more that I enjoy than being with friends and messing about in boats. Messing about in brand-new boats on a champagne sailing day on Lake Ontario at the beginning of the summer doesn’t get any better. To have the new owner, Helmuth Strobel and Anchor Yachts dealer Pancho Jimenez aboard made it even more special, as they can also speak to what they truly enjoy about the boat. We keep our own boat in a harbour that has a long waiting list for boats over 35 feet, so this little gem would definitely fit the bill and feels like a much bigger boat. True to the spirit of the 7th generation Oceanis line, the 34.1 is built in Poland and replaces the 35.1. It is 1,000 lbs lighter, 14 cm narrower and has 29% more sail area.
