POTW: Yacht dog meets dock dog!
Ours is the ‘yacht dog’, his name is Siku (which means ice in Inuit we are told – as he has blue eyes) and the ‘dock dog’ is Murphy. The dogs are old friends!

Hi John, you folks are involved with the Great Lakes area and I have a quick question. For cottage owners on larger lakes/Great Lakes there is usually a chance of large waves unless you are located in a sheltered bay with breakwater.

POTW: Luna Rossa second AC 75

Backing in: Good write up….
What about the tide in your story. Some marinas have the slips laid out so the tide will pull or push the boat… but some have the slips so the boat will move sideways in the tide. I used to have a slip in such a marina.

POTW: A pot of gold in Gananoque
Graham and Diane Segger spent 18 days sailing from Toronto’s Mimico Cruising Club to the Thousand Islands this August. They spent 15 days at anchor and three evenings in harbour, one of which was August 18 when they sheltered from some unsettled weather in Gananoque Municipal Marina

At Sheen Marine, like almost everywhere else in the world, this has been a most unusual boating season. New Years Day 2020. Everything was normal. We had some large project carry over from 2019. We started booking new 2020 projects.

We see people coming into the public docks with people sitting on the bow of the boat or on the outside front of pontoon boats, if the boat had to slow down fast, that person may end up in the motor /propeller.

POTW: Great timing!
Canadian Yachting Editor, Andy Adams, had the camera handy in St. Catharines, Ontario the other day as Neptunus Yachts’ latest new yacht, a 65 Flybridge, arrived at the marina yard in preparation for launch. The lucky new owners will be taking the yacht to Georgian Bay.

POTW: Boater heroes
In Mid June, a floatplane plunged into Constance Bay on the Ottawa River after two planes collide near Arnprior. The outcome could have been much worse for the pilot if not for the fast action of a few friends out boating on Sunday afternoon.
