National #GoSailing Days: July 31 and August 1
Canadians will be invited to discover the joy of sailing or to enjoy their favourite sport this summer, particularly over the weekend of July 31st and August 1st as Sail Canada, in collaboration with the Provincial Associations, sailing clubs and schools across the country, will stage various initiation activities during the 2021 #GoSailing days.

Many businesses have had to be creative and find new ways to offer their services because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Halifax International Boat Show, Moncton Boat Show, and NB Sportsmen & Fly Fishing Show normally take place each winter, but the 2021 editions of these events have been postponed to 2022.

Halifax postponed; three Boat and Sportsmen’s Shows go digital
Last week, Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin and Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced tighter COVID-19 restrictions in the province. As of Saturday, March 6, special events, including trade shows, are not permitted until at least the end of March, and residents are being asked to avoid non-essential travel in and out of HRM during this period.

Show news: Dusseldorf’s boot re-scheduled to April
With Germany currently under lockdown, Messe Düsseldorf, the operator of Dusseldorf’s huge facility where its internationally celebrated boat show is held, has decided with its partners and exhibitors to re-schedule boot 2021 to the 17 to 25 April! The original dates from 23 to 31 January could not be maintained due to the ongoing high infection numbers across all of Europe.

Halifax is on! Show producer, Master Promotions, has announce that the Halifax Boat Show will return for its scheduled 2021 date at the Halifax Exhibition Centre. After working diligently with the Province of Nova Scotia, the Chief Medical Officer, Boating Atlantic and the facility, new safety measures have been put in place that will allow the show to return February 4-7, 2021.

Halifax Venetian Night
An annual tradition, Venetian Night is a parade of brightly decorated vessels that participate in a magnificent evening Parade of Sail along the North West Arm. Sneak Peak – Seven newbies from the 2019 US Sailboat Show in Annapolis
Celebrating their 50th year – the boat show was 10% bigger this year with larger boats and construction finished to help ease flooding with the city dock raised. Unfortunately, this was not enough, as the show had to close on Saturday due to excessive winds and a higher tide which caused flooding.

Ottawa show wrap
Ottawa Boat Show is the largest boat show in the Ottawa/Rideau Region, with a selection ranging from powerboats, fishing boats and cruisers, to pontoons, canoes, and kayaks. In February the Show filled the EY Centre for its 45th edition this past weekend, with hundreds of products on display for boating season 2020.
