The French boating giant, Beneteau, has extended its line of enclosed weekenders with the Antares 12, which builds on the DNA of the historic range and takes flavours from the Swift Trawler. The stunner was intro’d at boot last February.

The Antares 12 standard edition comes with twin 400hp Mercury Verado V10s, a first for this class of yacht, according to Beneteau. The Antares 12 can even fit three outboards, so owners have the option of upgrading to triple 300hp Mercury Verado V8s offering a whopping 900hp.

The skipper can drive from either the saloon or the flybridge, while technology includes the option of a Seakeeper gyro and Groupe Beneteau’s Seanapps system, which keeps owners connected to their boat.

The Antares 12 is also a great day boat for fun trips with friends or comfortable getaways with the family. The boat has three outdoor lounge areas: the aft cockpit protected by a long hardtop characteristic of the line, the forward sun pad with an adjustable backrest and a vast flybridge with a corner sofa and a fully fitted outdoor galley cabinet.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
