POTW: Wind, Women, and Water

Photo of the Week

The gathering earlier this month at Royal NS YC. Can you spot Daisy?

Feb 27, 2025

Our Photo of the Week comes to us from Halifax e-sailor, organizer, volunteer, and all-purpose cheerleader, Daisy Cobden who sent along this photo of the group at the first Wind, Women, and Water event that took place on Feb 12.

The purpose of the initiative is to empower women in sailing by offering workshops and on-water clinics. This program creates more opportunities for women to connect, develop their skills, and gain confidence on the water. The entire effort is collaborative among Halifax yacht clubs, RNSYS, DYC, BBYC, and AYC.

More on Daisy and the recent honour she received elsewhere in this issue

As you can see our Photo of the Week submissions come from all over and hopefully from YOU. Any shot that catches a moment in or around boating is what we are after. Send your photos to onboard@kerrwil.com and please help us to understand what the shot means to you and who you and your boat are. And please add POTW in the subject line.  Thanks!

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
