Highlights from Fredericton’s Knotty Night

Knotty Night

Feb 27, 2025

Every January, CanBoat / Fredericton hosts a free event called Knotty Night at Dolan’s Pub.

On January 23rd, over a dozen Fredericton area boaters arrived for a pre-event dinner gathering and 24 boaters participated in the knot tying event.

During the annual event Fredericton instructors demonstrate how to tie various knots, hitches, and splices. Boaters are encouraged to move from station to station and try the knots for themselves.  Volunteer instructors are available to provide one-on-one instruction additional and guidance about knots and where they would function best.

In addition to Knotty Night, Fredericton also offers topics ranging from informative “how to” sessions to accounts of member’s boating experiences and destination ideas. Invitations are sent out through multiple sources, local clubs, Facebook, member emails, to let boaters know where and when.

Follow Fredericton on Facebook for upcoming boat talk announcements. Some events are also offered online.
