It’s Back – Safety and Flare Return Days 2021

Safety Flare Return Day

Apr 8, 2021

So far we have 22 Squadrons who have requested events and we can take about 10 more requests. Squadrons who wish to offer events can now contact local marine retailers to see if they wish to participate with them in an event this season.

A Safety and Flare Return days 2021 Squadron and Retailer Request and Information Form was sent late last year to all District Commanders for distribution to their Squadrons and they have been asked to complete this form with the Squadron’s partner retailer and send the request for an event to my attention, jgullick@cps-ecp.ca with a cc to Mike Smith, equinoxm@cogeco.ca.

A total of 35 events across the country will be approved this year. In 2022 we will be able to hold up to 45 events.

We will review the requests, select a good cross section of locations across Canada and then inform Squadrons and provide them with all required information and materials that they will need. CIL Orion will send the necessary shipping cartons and instructions direct to the retailers.

For those of you who held events in the past you will see few, if any, changes to the program.

2021 dates and locations are available here. Check back often as more dates are added.

If you have any questions or require a Squadron event request form, please feel free to contact me at jgullick@cps-ecp.ca

Until now, there hasn’t been an electric boat that really makes a statement. Enter the ENVGO NV1.

Canada’s Superior: the North Shore

Story and photos by Jennifer M. Smith

We’d been north before on a short two-week cruise. At the time, we were unprepared for the isolation, the lack of cell phone coverage, and the spotty VHF reception. Since then we’ve repowered, installed Starlink, and retired from work. Now, with confidence in our engine and our connectivity and more time to sail, we were Superior-ready.
