Breeze Bandit

“Why do I always wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat?”

Yes, admittedly it is hot on the boat especially when we are staying at a dock as the hatches just don’t seem to let enough air in. My friend told me about a cool invention called a Breeze Bandit that drives the wind down your hatches, regardless of the direction of the wind.

“It was about the same height as me (6 ft), snaps into your hatch and attaches to a halyard”, I knew I wanted one! Every wind scoop I had ever seen had been designed to let the wind in from the bow when at anchor but not at the dock when the wind comes from all directions when the boat doesn’t move. No more sleepless sweaty nights! Find a retailer at Indie Marine so you can enjoy cool nights too.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
