Silva Bay Shipyard Lift RailwayLocated on Gabriola Island – the perfect jumping off point for the Gulf Islands. Silva Bay is approximately 20 nautical miles from Vancouver, 65 nautical miles from Victoria and a very short trip from Nanaimo. The co-ordinates: 49o09’00.26″N x 123o41’44.67″W.

The Silva Bay Shipyard occupies the historic Whithey shipyard and the Silva Bay Marina and Resort. The Shipyard’s long and storied history that began in 1945 when Norm Sear and Les Withey started their boat building repair company.

Silva Bay calls itself a “Do It Yourself Yard”. Contractors are welcome. Environmental and Shipyard Rules and Regulations apply when working in the shipyard. WCB Coverage required for all Contractors.

Winter Boat Storage dates are Oct/April 15th; some limited space is available. Contractors are available for mechanical diesel and gas, electrical repairs, wooden boat repairs and restoration.
